Janice Anne (Keith) Bahnemann, 77, of Falmouth, MA, passed away while lovingly surrounded by family on Saturday, July 12, 2014.
Born in New Bedford on February 16, 1937, she was the only child of F. Gordon and Claybon Frances (Griffith) Keith. She grew up in Wareham and attended their school systems. She furthered her education by attending Bridgewater State Teachers College. Jan married A. Gordon Smith [FAG #104606347] and moved to Falmouth where she raised her two children. In 1970, she married Charles W. Bahnemann and her family grew.
Janice adored her family and friends. She was an active member of the North Falmouth Congregational Church and was well-known for sending birthday cards to absolutely everyone she knew. She was very active in the community and was a President of the Residents Council at Falmouth Center where she lived for 10 years.
Jan had various jobs over the years but she is best remembered for working at North Falmouth Apothecary where many friends and connections were made. Her hobbies included reading a vast amount of books, writing letters and cards, cooking, baking, crocheting and sewing when she could. She was an avid sports fan and cherished the Red Sox.
She was predeceased by her husband, Charles W. Bahnemann and sister-by-choice Norma (Harlow) Feik.
She is survived by her children and step-children: Dale A. Smith-Kenyon, and husband Jack of Somersworth, NH; Allen G. Smith of Hudson, NH; and Charles T. Bahnemann, and wife Robin of Plymouth, MA; grandchildren: Emilee Kenyon, Derek and Jesse Smith, and Adrienne and Matthew Bahnemann. Janice leaves behind many cousins and lifelong friends whom she loved dearly.
She will be greatly missed by her family, friends, and those whose lives she touched.
The family would like to extend thanks to the staff at the former Falmouth Care and Rehabilitation Center for the loving care and support Janice received while living there.
Visiting hours will be held on Thursday, July 17th, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Chapman Cole & Gleason Funeral Home, 584 West Falmouth Hwy (Rte. 28A), WEST FALMOUTH. A funeral service will be held on Friday, July 18th at 11:00 a.m. at North Falmouth Congregational Church, 155 Old Main Rd, North Falmouth. Burial will follow at the North Falmouth Cemetery.
