"THREE LOSE THEIR LIVES IN BLAST; PREPARATIONS FOR THE FOURTH BRING TRAGIC DEATH TO THREE YOUNG MEN EXPERIMENTING WITH EXPLOSIVE; HOUSE IS A PARTIAL WRECK. Paul and Anton Hoeft mix potash and sulfur in making noise producing caps--Erwin Pommerenning stands by - then follows terrific explosion which etc...."

Age 14 at time of death. "Erwin Pommerenning was the third son of Mr. and Mrs. Albert Pommerenning 940 Eighteenth Street. He is survived by his parents, four brothers and four sisters. He had been working at the Radford plant but little more than a week having previously attended the Eighth Street Lutheran parochial school until the school closed for the summer vacation."
