Albert Hillen, 102, Mitchell, died Friday, March 16, 2007 at Prairie Crossings Assisted Living in Mitchell.
Visitation will be from 2-4:00 PM Sunday at the Bittner Funeral Chapel in Mitchell. Burial will be in Sunset Memorial Cemetery in Mitchell. Memorial services will be held at a later date.
Albert William Hillen was born January 24, 1905 at Mount Union, IA to John and Anna (Meyer) Hillen. He moved to Houghton, SD with his parents in 1908 where he attended school and farmed for a number of years. He married Phyllis Kindschi January 4, 1934 at Houghton. He moved to Aberdeen in 1940 then to Mitchell in 1944. He was employed at United Auto Parts until his retirement then did carpenter work. On October 4, 1969 he married Alta Gibson in Mitchell. Albert died on Friday, March 16, 2007 at the age of 102 years.
He is survived by two sons, Allen Hillen and wife Jo Ann of Wellington, KS; Donald Hillen and wife Mary Ann of Burnsville, MN; one daughter, Eunice Burnham of Apple Valley, MN; seven grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Phyllis in 1968, his wife Alta in 2003, one son Roger in 1999, a son-in-law, Thomas Burnham in 2005, three brothers: Henry, Carl and John, two sisters, Lillian Reisdorph, Alma Hillen and his parents.
