Herald Coaster, April 26, 1999:

A funeral mass for Raymond Veselka Sr., 90, of Richmond, will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, April 27, at Immanuel United Church of Christ in Needville, with the Rev. James Ramsey officiating. As St. Michael's Catholic Church is under renovation, Immanuel United Church of Christ has offered the use of their building. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Cemetery.

Serving as pallbearers will be Marvin W. Hedt, Phillip Havens, Bobby Veselka, Dale Veselka, Melvin W. Hedt, and Ray Allen Hedt.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday, April 26, at the Garmany & Carden Funeral Chapel, 3103 School Street in Needville, with a rosary being recited at 7 p.m. with Deacon Davis Mitchell.

Mr. Veselka passed away April 23, 1999 at Polly Ryon Skilled Care Center in Richmond. He was born Feb. 7, 1909 in Schulenburg to parents, John and Annie Holub Veselka. He was a retired farmer and he was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church in Needville.

Surviving him are his sons, Alton "Red" Veselka and his wife, Elaine, of Needville, Raymond Veselka and his wife, Angelina, of Needville; his daughter, Mildred Hedt and her husband, Marvin, of Sugar Land; 15 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hilda Veselka, and two daughters, Bernice Hedt and Gladys Altimore.
