Following a short illness which had its origin in an accident in the oil fields near Noblestown last Monday, Charles AVERY, aged 69 years, widely known among oil men is Western Pennsylvania, dropped dead Saturday morning, September 9, at his home in Noblestown.
Mr. AVERY was a field foreman for the South Penn Oil Company. On Monday, September 4, while at work he fell and fractured two ribs. He had been confined to his bed until Saturday morning when he arose early complaining that he had not slept well. He ate a light breakfast and then telling his wife he would return to bed, started for his room. At the foot of the stairs he fell and when his wife reached his side he was dead.
A resident of Noblestown since the beginning of the oil excitement in this locality twenty years ago, Mr. AVERY was widely known. He and his wife came here from Bradford. Besides his wife Mr. AVERY leaves two sons and a daughter. Bert and Floyd AVERY and Mrs. George BAUMAN, all of Noblestown.
Funeral services were held at the home Tuesday afternoon followed by interment in Robinson's Run cemetery. September 15, 1911 / McDonald PA Record
