Funeral services for Ruth Mae Viereck, 64, of Bellville, Texas were held Saturday, August 20, 2006, at 9:00 a.m. from Knesek Bros. Funeral Chapel in Bellville with Rev. Jennie Jones officiating. Interment was at Oak Knoll Cemetery in Bellville. Pallbearers serving were Chris Janik, Jason Janik, David Janik, DuWayne Pfeffer, Glen Hueber and Greg Janik. Honorary pallbearers were Braden Chovanee, Allen Gerloff, Dr. Gene Huebner, and Dr. Welton Hill.

Ruth was born in East Bernard, the daughter of Rudolph and Martha (Chumchal) Janik. She was raised in Wharton, Texas and graduated from Wharton High School in 1960. On July 23, 1960, the former Miss Ruth Janik was joined in marriage to Mr. Charles Viereck with a ceremony held at St. John Lutheran Church in Bellville.

Ruth was a lifelong homemaker. She loved to fish and she also had a beautician license and worked at it for a hobby. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ruth Viereck died Wednesday, August 16, 2006 in Houston, Texas.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Viereck of Bellville; daugher, Donna Chovanec and husband, David, of Bellville; son, Michael Viereck of Bellville; brothers, Gene Janik and wife, Elaine, of Wharton, Irvin Janik of Wharton, Vernon Janik of El Campo, and Larry Janik and wife, Donna, of El Campo; grandchildren, Jennifer Gerloff and husband, Allen, Braden Chovanec and Erica Viereck; great-granddaughter, Kymberlyn Gerloff; brother-in-law, Douglas Viereck and wife, Terri, of Magnolia; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Preceded in death by her parents, Rudolph and Martha Janik; grandson, Austin Chovanec; and father-in-law and mother-in-law, Melvin and Lenora Viereck.
