Betty's mother was the late Grace Hoke Pitzer. She was predeceased by her son, Robert Marshall Johnson. She is survived by her h/o 63 years, James E Johnson. She graduated from Alderson (WV) High School in 1949 and Concord College, Athens, WV, in 1951. She taught at Alderson High School for three years, then was employed at Alderson Federal Prison for 20 years as a case worker and vocational teacher, until her retirement in 1981. She and her family lived and farmed at Eastview Farm on Blue Sulphur Springs Road for 48 years, returning to Alderson in 2006.
