Frederick William Stickford was born in Huntersville, Indiana, November 26, 1848 and came to Clayton county with his parents in 1853, and he lived here ever since, being one of the most intelligent and thrifty farmers.
January 13, 1880 he married Louisa Elizabeth Matt, and with her founded a happy house on the farm purchased from B.F. Fox to which after a few years the adjoining farm of G.M. Porter and L.A. Sackett were added.
William Stickford was a man of broad, liberal view, who is a quiet unostentatious manner sought to elevate mankind to a higher social level. He was recently elected to the school board.
Of the children that blessed his home, the first born, a little girl died in infancy, while two bright little boys will comfort the widowed mother. His mother died a few weeks previous.
His remains were buried in the Garnavillo Cemetery on Wednesday, April 23. The funeral services were conducted by Rev. F. Sommerland.
