Bobbie Dale Embry
Baskett, Kentucky
Bobbie Dale Embry, age 75, passed away at 9:30 P.M. Friday August 15, 2014 at his home under the care of St. Anthony's Hospice.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Hobert and Anna Embry, a daughter, Julie Ann Runge, brother, Maurice Embry and daughter-in-law Sylvia Embry.
Bobbie was born in Morgantown, Kentucky and moved with his family to Evansville, IN as a young child. He and his wife, Wanda Cutrell, were childhood friends growing up in the same neighborhood. They became smitten with each other when she was just 12 years old. They would sit together every Wednesday night when the neighborhood would host movie night at the local center. They were married in their early teens and lived in Evansville, IN. His job with the Corp of Engineers allowed them the opportunity to travel and live in different cities. He was a mechanic at various lock and dams around the country including Lake Okeechobee in Florida. He volunteered delivering supplies and helped clean up with other fellow crew members in Homestead, FL after Hurricane Andrew. In 2001 he retired from the Corp after 25 years of service. His hobbies included woodworking and spent many hours in his shed where he handcrafted a dining room table and chairs for his wife, and a hope chest and many other handmade items for family members. He could make a tin man out of sardine cans which amazed people. He loved fishing and playing cards on Friday nights.
Survivors include: His wife of 56 years: Wanda Embry of Baskett, KY; Daughter: Sherri Plunkett and husband Randy of Evansville, IN; 2 Sons: Bobbie Embry Jr. and wife Debbie of Baskett, KY and Eddie Embry of Evansville, IN; 2 Brothers: Darrell Embry and wife Sharon of Evansville, IN and Walter Lee Embry and wife Daisy of Morgantown, KY; 15 Grandchildren; 17 Great Grandchildren; Nieces and Nephews.
