Bruce Morton Garver, a nephew of Edith Elizabeth Morton Bippus, will add a short "bio" to this Memorial during February 2021. Until then, some understanding of Edith's life and her service to the Hamilton Public Schools and the Butler County Historical Society may be obtained by reading the captions for the twelve attached photographs, five by Bruce Morton Garver, three by Edith's great nephew Lee Albert Garver, four by Edith's cousin "Jill B", and one by fellow Hamiltonian Frank Flack who created this Memorial and kindly transferred its management to Bruce Morton Garver.

Bruce Morton Garver and Karen Louise (King) Garver own all of the original photographs whose JPEGs appear on this Memorial. Bruce has written the following detailed caption for the professionally made 1938 wedding photograph: Edith Elizabeth Morton (1905-1988) and John Arthur Bippus (1902-1979) wed on June 30, 1938, at Grace Methodist Church on 320 South Front Street in Hamilton, Ohio. The bride and groom are respectively seated and standing on the left. Edith is the daughter of David Hinsey Morton (1878-1914) and Emma Lotz Morton (1877-1962), and John is the son of Mathew Bippus (born in Rottweil, Wűrttemberg) and Bertha Bohzien Bippus of Hamilton, Ohio. Seated in the center is the matron of honor, Ruth Ernestine Morton Garver (1907-2004), sister of the bride. Seated on the right is the bridesmaid, Alice Ella Bippus (Maddock, 1906-1984), sister of the groom, John Arthur Bippus. The best man, Francis (Frank) Hare, stands on the right. At Hamilton, on May 3, 1944, Alice Ella Bippus (born May 5, 1906) wed Harold Willard Maddock (born July 15, 1903, at College Corner, Chio). I thank cousin Judy Morton Brueneman for having provided the date of trhe Maddock-Bippus wedding and the following newspaper report of the wedding of Edith Morton and John Bipppus. To achieve greater clarity, I have added the words in parentheses. The Hamilton Daily News-Journal of July 1, 1938, reported this wedding on page three as follows: "Miss Edith Morton is Bride of John Bippus. The final wedding in "the month of brides" was that of Miss Edith Morton, daughter of Mrs. Emma Morton, 214 Charles Street, and John Bippus, son of Mr. and Mrs. Mathew Bippus, 1154 Shuler Avenue. (The wedding) was a lovely affair on Thursday night at half after eight o 'clock in the Grace M. E . Church (where) the Rev. E. G. Roesener read the impressive service. Masses of stately white gladioli and delicate gypsophila together with the greenery of smilax, palm, and fern combined to make a setting of unusual beauty, which was softly lighted by the gleam of tall cathedral tapers in white seven-branched standards. The bride's uncle, Prof. John D. Lotz, presided at the organ and played sweet nuptial airs; and her cousin, Miss Loretta Lotz, sang the favorite bridal melodies "I Love You Truly", "O Promise Me", "At Dawning ", and "God Touched a Rose". The lovely bride was a picture of radiant charm in her wedding gown of white chiffon, fashioned with full flowing skirt, shirred bodice with heart-shaped neckline and full puffed-sleeves. Her veil of toile fell from a coronet of orange blossoms and was of fingertip length. She carried lilies of the valley and gardenias. (The bride) was attended by her sister, Mrs. Lee W. Garver, matron of honor, and (by) the groom's sister, Miss Alice Bippus, bridesmaid. They were similarly gowned in taffeta fashioned with full skirts, ruffled about the lower edge and topped with Eton jackets, made with short puffed sleeves. They wore natural flowers in their hair and (wore) sandals to match their frocks. Miss Bippus wore pink and carried pink rosesand blue delphinium, while Mrs. Garver chose aqua blue, with which she carried pink lilies. Francis Hare was the best man. A reception for two hundred guests followed in the home of Mr. Lotz, the bride's uncle, at 532 South Front Street. Mr. and Mrs. Bippus later left for a wedding trip to Washington, D.C. and other eastern points. The bride traveled in a smart dark blue silk suit with dusty pink lace. (Upon their return to Hamilton), they will reside at 712 Millville Avenue".
