Victoria -- Dorothy Gerstner, 69, Victoria, died Thursday, April 20, 2000, at Hays Medical Center. Mrs. Gerstner was born Dorothy Klaus on May 23, 1930, at Chicago.

She was employed at St. Anthony's Hospital, working as a nurse's aide for six years and ward secretary for 20 years. She was a member of St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria

She was preceded in death by her husband, John Linus Jr., in 1992; an infant son; and a daughter, Judith Gerstner.

Survivors include four sons, John L. III of Hill City, Jeffery and Jayme, both of Hays, and Jason of Munjor; two daughters, Janelle Pfannenstiel and Josephine "Josey" Feldt, both of Hays; a brother, Donald Klaus of Victoria; 10 grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

The funeral will be at 10 a.m. Monday at St. Fidelis Catholic Church, Victoria, the Rev. Michael Suchnicki officiating. Burial will be in St. Fidelis Cemetery, Victoria. A parish vigil will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday at Hays Memorial Chapel Funeral Home, 20th and Pine, Hays.

Memorials may be made to the Cancer Council of Ellis County. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, 2 to 8 p.m. Sunday and 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Monday at the funeral home.
