William Robert Metzke, 80, of Springfield died Tuesday at St. John's Hospital. He was born Feb. 11, 1914, in Springfield, the son of Fred W. and Mary Hewitt Metzke. He married Ann Reva Davis in 1935; she preceded him in death in 1946. He married Ruth Banning in 1947 in Decatur. Mr. Metzke was a designer in the engineering department at Fiatallis Manufacturing Co. for 30 years, retiring in 1976. He was a member of Society of Automotive Engineers, Fiatallis Salaried Retirees and Retirees Golf League.
Survivors: wife, Ruth; a son, William R. Metzke II; a grandson; a brother, Fred W. Metzke of Florida; and several nieces and nephews.
