Medford Star News, Thurs. Jan 8, 1959, p. B3:4. Robert Bix, 66, Buried Friday from Holy Rosary Church. Funeral services were held at the Holy Rosary church in Medford Friday morning for Robert Michael Bix, 66, former Medford resident who has been confined to the Veteran’s hospital in Tomah the past nine years. He died there at 6:15 Tuesday evening, Dec. 30. Death was attributed to a heart attack. Msgr. Gregory Reuter officiated at funeral services, and burial was in Evergreen cemetery. Pallbearers were Jack Ziehlke and Dr. Robert May, nephews of the deceased, Grover Rueth, John Schabach, Joe Kalmon and Frank Diesing. Born Sept. 11, 1892, in Medford, Robert Michael Bix received his education in the Medford schools and lived here his entire life except for service in the army during World War I and his last years of illness. He was engaged in hotel and restaurant business in Medford for many years. He was married in 1917 in Medford to the former Helena May, who died in 1949. Surviving are one daughter, Rita, Mrs. Marlin Miller of Bruce; two sons, Robert Bix jr., and optometrist practicing at Ladysmith, and Lee Bix, Medford; and four grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers, William and Fred Bix, and four sisters, Mrs. Elizabeth May, Elsie, Mrs. Frank Travis, Catherine, Mrs. John Ziehlke, and Mrs. Estelle McNally, all six of Medford. One brother and one sister preceded him in death.
