CHESHIRE — Elizabeth "Betty" (Bloom) Garms, 94, passed away peacefully in her home on Friday, Sept. 5, 2014. She was the devoted wife of Karl W. Garms.

Betty was born on May 3, 1920, to the late Clarence and Jenny (Dickson) Bloom of Hartford. She attended Bunker Hill Grammar School and graduated from Wilby High School. She served as a deacon for Bunker Hill Congregational Church and was an active member of the Waterbury Women's Club. Betty loved volunteering at Waterbury Hospital in her free time.

Betty is survived by her loving husband; her niece, Heidi (Garms) Klies of Goose Creek, S.C.; and her nephews, Douglas Garms of Goose Creek, S.C., and Jeffery Garms of Hillsdale, N.Y. Betty is predeceased by her only sister, Hilda B. Holmes.

Arrangements: A graveside service will take place on Monday, Sept. 15, 2014, at 11 a.m. at the Evergreen Cemetery, 183 North St., Watertown. A memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. in Nelson Hall at Elim Park Place, 150 Cook Hill Road, Cheshire, CT 06410.

The Alderson-Ford Funeral Home of Cheshire, 615 S. Main St., Cheshire, CT 06410, is assisting with the arrangements. The family has requested, in lieu of flowers, donations may be made to EPP Christian Ministries Department-Mary Melby Fund, 150 Cook Hill Road, Cheshire, CT 06410.
