Fred Richard Lucas Jr. of Blackwell, Oklahoma, died early Wednesday morning, September 17, 2014, at his home in Blackwell at the age of 73 years.

Fred Richard Lucas Jr. was born on February 24, 1941, in Blackwell, Oklahoma, to Fred Richard and Edith Jean (Adams) Lucas Sr.

He grew up in Blackwell attending Blackwell Public Schools and graduated from Blackwell High School in 1959.

Following his education he entered the United States Army Reserve and began working for the Blackwell Zinc Company.

He married Peggy Lokiel Shreck on March 7, 1961, in Blackwell and he continued working at the smelter.

Other employment included driving a route for Rainbow Bread in Ponca City, Raffety Grocery Store, selling insurance for American General Insurance Company and the Electron Corporation.

In the 1980’s he worked for Crow Manufacturing in the shipping and receiving department and retired in the early 2000’s.

Following retirement he worked delivering water for Cool Rush Water in Blackwell.

He was a member of the Blackwell Church of Christ and Odd Fellows Lodge.

He enjoyed fishing, watching various sporting contests and drinking coffee with his many friends. He also enjoyed attending family activities, especially those for the grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife, Peggy Lucas of Blackwell; a daughter, Jennifer Ray and husband Jeff of Blackwell; three sons, Terry Lucas and wife Bridget of Frederick, Oklahoma, John Lucas and wife Shelli of Ponca City, and Scott Lucas and wife Bobbie of Blackwell;

a brother, Robert Lucas and wife Elliene of San Antonio, Texas; ten grandchildren, Tiffany Bagwell and husband Bryan of Frederick, Andrew Lucas of Frederick, Emiley Noack of Frederick, Bryan Lucas of Ponca City, Alyssa Lucas of Ponca City, T. J. Greenfield and wife Nicki of Blackwell, Hollie Cox and husband Dustin of Porter, Texas, and Brylee, Brooklyn and Bryson Ray of Blackwell;

and two great grandchildren, Kinsley Bagwell of Frederick and Tatum Greenfield of Blackwell.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Janell Kay Lucas; and a brother, Tom Lucas.

Services are scheduled for 1:30 p.m., Friday, September 19th in the Blackwell Church of Christ with Lanny Jobe officiating. Burial will follow in the Blackwell Cemetery.

Casketbearers will be Max Moore, Bobby Fletcher, Mike Quirey, Darrell Gingerich, Gail Moore and Jim Hiatt.

Serving as honorary casketbearers will be Clarence Logan and the Blackwell High School Class of 1959.
