"Martin R. Bitzer, a prominent resident of Ephrata, died at his home, that borough, on Tuesday night, from infirmities due to old age, in his 87th year. Deceased was a farmer, but retired about fifteen years ago and removed to the borough. He was a member of the German Baptist church. His wife proceeded him to the grave, but the following children survive: Adam R., Mary A., and Lizzie A., of Ephrata; Mrs. Daniel Yertz, of Elizabethville, Dauphin county; John C., Lancaster; Urias R., Canton, O.; Mrs. A. S. Hibsman, Philadelphia."
