Walter Bartz, son of Herman and Minnie (Moeller) Bartz, was born February 17, 1904 in St. Ansgar Iowa, where his father was in the furniture and undertaking business. After his father sold his part of the business in 1917, the family moved to Hutchinson, MN. They moved again to Faribualt, MN in 1927, where Walter's father was employed in a furniture factory. Walter and his brother, Erwin, moved to California, with their father following them after the death of Walter's mother.
Walter died December 23, 1996, in Alameda County, California and is buried in Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery in St. Ansgar, Iowa.
Walter was preceded in death by his wife, Gladys, his parents, and his brother, Erwin.
