Lawerence Neisius Dies Unexpectedly After Heart Attack
Lawerence J. Neisius, 60, operator of the Conoco Service station here since 1944, died early Saturday morning, Feb. 15, after suffering a heart attack while opening his station on highway 75 south.
Mr. Neisius was stricken about 6:30 p. m. and was dead upon arrival at Sacred Heart hospital. Funeral services were at 2 p. m. Tuesday at St. John Evangelical and Reformed church. Rev. M. L. Straube officiated. Interment was at the city cemetery under direction of Luken's funeral home.
Lawerence Joseph Neisius was born Jan. 26, 1898, at Dyersville, Iowa, the son of the late John and Josephine Funke Neisius. He came with his parents to Le Mars in 1905.
He worked for several years for the Le Mars Telephone Co. before taking over the service station. Mr. Neisius was known as a baseball enthusiast and was active as an umpire in this area for many years.
Mr. Neisius was married to Gladys Ward at Luverne, Minn., Sept. 1, 1943. His wife and one brother, Emil, of Le Mars survive.
Pall bearers were Harry Reynolds, E. J. Blaue, John Raveling, Wilbur Clements, Earl Utesch and James Yock.
