Jasper - David Lee Abrams, 71, of Jasper, passed away on Tuesday, May 8, 2012, in an automobile accident. Mr. Abrams was born on October 4, 1940 to Aubray L. and Elva Simpson Abrams in Anniston, Alabama. He grew up in the Alexandria Community of Calhoun County and graduated from Alexandria High School in 1958. He earned degrees from Auburn University, the University of Alabama and Samford Law School. He was admitted to the Alabama Society of Certified Public Accountants in 1971. Mr. Abrams began his career at Walker College in 1966 as a history and government teacher. He later taught accounting, business and history courses at Bevill State Community College from 1998-2002. He served as Interim President at UAB Walker College from 1996-1997. Prior to this he was Business Manager at Walker College. He was an active board member of the Walker College Foundation. He was currently a tax attorney with the accounting firm of George E. Deavours, CPA, P.C. whom he had been in association with since 1972. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2012, at 3 p.m. at Kilgore Green Funeral Home Chapel. There will be a graveside service at the cemetery adjoining the Ohatchee First Baptist Church, Ohatchee, at 3 p.m. on Sunday, May 13, 2012. He was preceded in. death by his parents, Aubray L. and Elva Simpson Abrams. He is survived by his brother and sister-in-law, Aubray and Judy Abrams, of Stone Mt., Ga.; nephew, Charles David Abrams and wife, Susan, of Kennesaw, Ga.; niece, Catherine Abrams Choi and husband, Han, of Decatur, Ga.; great-nieces and nephews, Amanda and Beth Abrams, Christopher, David and Hannah Choi.
