Rosary will be recited Tuesday, March 21st, at 7:00 p.m. and Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 2:00 p.m. both at St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church for Herman Clasen who died March 17, 2006, in Bakersfield. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Southwest Cemetery. Herman was born January 17, 1940 in Germany. He earned his Master's Degree in Automotive Technology in Heide, Germany. In 1968 he came to the United States as a fuel injection technician for German automotive dealers. He moved to Porterville in 1971, and in 1972 started his own business. Clasen Motors in Porterville was built in 1982. He retired in 2001 and moved to Bakersfield two years ago. Herman had a very strong work ethic and could frequently be found working late into the night. He is survived by his wife, Clara; son, Reinhard H. Clasen of Bakersfield; and brother, Hans-Joachim Clasen of Germany. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Philip the Apostle Catholic Church Building Fund.
