Vedelago di Treviso born Margherita Sanson was a seamstress by profession and eventually by name, when she wedded Giambattista Sarto on February 13, 1833. She mothered eleven children, including Giuseppe, who would become Pope Pius X in 1903 and eventually canonized in 1954. Her marker, with an inscription formed by her son the future Pope, survives at the cemetery of Riese San Pio X.
