David Martin Kroeger, age 63, of Kasota, MN died at his home on Lake Washington on January 2nd, 2013 of natural causes.
David was born in Mankato, MN on February 24, 1949 to Martin and Rose Kroeger. He was a graduate of Mankato West High School and earned a bachelor's degree in Biology from Mankato State University. He attended Illinois State University to work on a Masters degree in fine arts, and subsequently moved to Denver, CO to pursue a career in glass blowing. He married Sharon Havener in 1975 and had four children, Kimberly, Shoshanna, Tiffany, and Haila. He and his father owned and operated Kroeger Plastering from 1976 to 2006 in Mankato, MN. He also owned and operated Sasglameric Studios, creating and selling glass and ceramics out of his home, throughout his life. In addition, he participated in the Minnesota Renaissance Festival from 1976 to 2005 and numerous local, national, and international art shows, including a permanent display of glass at the Smithsonian Institute in Washington, D.C. He was a dog lover and an avid outdoorsman, loving to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his father, Martin Kroeger, and his brother, Douglas Kroeger. He is survived by his mother Rose Kroeger of Lake Crystal, MN, sister Roz Skillman of Scottsdale, AZ, daughters Kim Quiros of Litchfield Park, AZ, Shoshanna Kroeger of Phoenix, AZ, Tiffany Kroeger of Eugene, OR, and Haila Kroeger of Mesa, AZ, five grandchildren, Gabriella Kroeger, Monique Gardner, Matthew Quiros, Charlie Quiros, and Dominick Kroeger, and nephew Paul Skillman of Denver, CO.
A memorial service celebrating David's life will be held 1:00 p.m., Sunday, June 16th, 2013 at the Kroeger family cottage on Lake Washington.
