He served in the US Army during WWII. He was the founder of Bill's Bakery and owned and operated the bakery for 30 years. He was an avid fisherman and sports fan.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Charlotte R. Snyder Gentile; three brothers, Patrick, Anthony and Dominick Gentile and two sisters, Marie Ferrando and Margaret Bennett.
He is survived by two sons, Bill Gentile and his wife Patricia and Carl Gentile and his wife Karen and one brother, John Gentile and his wife Ernestine all of Erie. He is also survived by eight grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.
Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery.
