Harry Leckel, 76, Trego, died on Saturday, March 7, 1998, at Spooner Community Memorial Hospital.

He was born on Nov. 21, 1921, in Washburn County to Henry and Charlotte (Schroeder) Leckel.

He married Caroline Brown on October 26, 1942, in Pine City, Minn. He had been employed in varied occupations, including hauling and cutting pulp, hauling milk, working in ship yards and repairing televisions and radios. He also drove bus for the Tadpole School and was a self-employed mail contractor.

He is survived by his wife, Caroline; six sons, Kenneth (Candy), Terry (Verna), John (Nancy), Randolph (Jean), Joseph (Debby), and Mark (Debra), all of the Spooner area; two daughters, Pamela (Kenneth) Hanson, Superior, and Marilyn Leckel, Eyota, Minn.; two brothers, Fred (Ardys), Vancouver, Wash., and Frank (Edna), Lowell, Ore.; two sisters, Mary (Earl) Hartman, Trego, and Florence Melton, Spooner; two sisters-in-law, Edith Leckel, Spooner, and Leora Leckel, Michigan; 23 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

The funeral was held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, March 10, at Wesleyan Church, Spooner, with Rev. Ronald Gormong officiating. Visition was from 5 to 8 p.m.on Monday at Dahl Funeral Home, Spooner.

Special music was provided by Phyllis Woebke, organist, and Carl Peters, soloist. Casket bearers were Joe, John, Ken, Mark, Randy, and Terry Leckel.

Interment was in Spooner Cemetery.
