Daily Democrat, Clinton MO, Aug 10 2010 - William (Billy) Frank Blevins, 48, Clinton, passed from this life on Monday, July 5, 2010, at Research Medical Center, Kansas City, after a courageous battle with a lengthy illness. Billy was born in Gainesville, Florida, to Harold Dee Blevins, Sr. and Barbara Marlene (Gocek) Blevins. Billy was one of eight children. His love for animals developed at a young age. Although he loved all animals, some were not so fond of him, such as, a certain turtle. The turtle belonged to his older brother and Billy had borrowed the turtle without permission. Being the creative person that Billy was, he decided to borrow the turtle by hiding it under his shirt. While he had the turtle under his shirt it latched on to his belly button. Well, you know turtles they do not come loose until it thunders or in this case when his mom created thunder by hitting the turtle in the head with a case knife. As Billy grew his love for animals continued, well except for turtles. Billy attended school in Clinton. He held various jobs over the course of his life until his health no longer permitted him to work. Outside of work, Billy loved to spend his time working with horses, fishing, hunting or with his family. He was a member of the Golden Valley Rodeo Association. Billy accepted Christ as his Savior as a young man. He was preceded in death by his father, Harold Blevins; one brother, Charles Lee Blevins; one niece, Misty Dawn Morris; one nephew, Rolland Allen Blevins, and a great-niece, Rebecca Lynn Blevins. Billy is survived by his mother, Marlene Blevins of the home; his wife, Athlene Blevins of Clinton; three sons, William Frank Blevins and wife, Monica, St. Louis, Cody Allen Blevins and Christopher William Blevins, both of Clinton; two grandsons, Zachary Blevins and Dominic Blevins; seven brothers and sisters, Linda Marlin and Jerry Daniels of Harrisonville, Deborah Blevins of Carthage, Harold Dee Blevins Jr. and wife, Rebecca, Lowry City; Cynthia Heckadon of Adrian, Dewayne Blevins and wife, Lynne, Sioux Falls, South Dakota, Theresa Estep of Urich and Harold Dee Dee Blevins of Clinton; numerous uncles, aunts, nephews, nieces and cousins. Funeral services were held Saturday, July 10, at Vansant-Mills Chapel, Clinton. Interment was in Clinton Memory Gardens Cemetery, Clinton.
