Dennis Lloyd Serbus was born on 26 April 1935 to Peter and Mabel (Minkel) Serbus, in Olivia, Renville County, Minnesota. He was a 1954 graduate of Kimball High School and served in the United States Air Force from 1957to1961. On 01 December 1962, he married Dorothee M. Proft.

Dennis was an operating engineer for Barbarossa and L.C. Petters, the Chief of Police in Kimball for 26 years, owned Northern Flite Target, drove truck for Jacobs Concrete in Kimball, and worked for Granite City Ready Mix in Annandale, prior to his death. He was a member of St. Anne’s Catholic Church, lifetime member of the Kimball Rod and Gun Club, 25-year volunteer as a Minnesota Firearms Safety Instructor, member of the National Rifle Association and Kimball Lions, and former member of the Wright County Peace Officers Association. Dennis loved his family, enjoyed working with his hands, loved the outdoors, and enjoyed hunting, and trap shooting.

Mr. Dennis Lloyd Serbus died at the age of 67 on Friday, 31 January 2003 at the St. Cloud Hospital, Stearns County, Minnesota.

Dennis was survived by his wife, Dorothee of Kimball; sons, daughters and spouses, Becky of New York City, Douglas (Kate) of Kingston, Monya (Shawn) Kalkbrenner of Kimball, Charles (Ann) of Kimball, and Matthew and fiancée, Carly Schiefelbein of Kimball; brothers, Dick (Connie) of Kimball, Don (Eileen) of Kimball, Gordon (Kathy) of Kimball, Randy (Margaret) of New London; sisters, Cathy (Bill) Russell of Lake Mary, Florida, and Peggy (Jack) Purcell of Annandale; and three grandsons, Luke, Ben, and Aaron. Dennis was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Robert; infant sister; sister in law, Patsy; and nephew, Colin.

Friends paid their final respects to Dennis from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., with a prayer service at 7:00 p.m., on Wednesday, 05 February, and from 9:00 to 10:00 a.m. on Thursday at the Dingmann Funeral Care Chapel in Kimball.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held at 10:30 a.m. on Thursday, 06 February 2003, at St. Anne`s Catholic Church in Kimball; Reverend Frank Tomasiewicz officiated.

Burial followed in St. Anne’s Catholic Cemetery in Kimball, Stearns County, Minnesota. Pallbearers were John Nelson, Troy Hilsgen, Bob Kunkel, Shawn Kalkbrenner, Tom Rosenow, and Gale Pope. Honorary Pallbearers were Jerry Almgren, Don Serbus, Dick Serbus, and Randy Serbus.
