Susanna Umble, age 94, of Atglen, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 23, 2014. She was the wife of the late John M. Umble who passed away on October 11, 2005, with whom she had celebrated 64 years of marriage.

She was born in Morgantown, PA, daughter of the late Jacob E. & Rebecca Mast Kurtz. She was a member of Maple Grove Mennonite Church, where in the past she was a Sunday School teacher and was a member of the sewing circle. Along with her husband, they operated Swampy Hollow Dairy Farm of Atglen. She enjoyed gardening, sewing and spending time with her family. She also had volunteered at the Coatesville Re-Uzit Shop.

She is survived by 5 children: Dorothy L. wife of Andrew Leatherman of Coatesville, Nancy J. wife of Buren "Bob" Walker of Mechanicsville, VA, J. Richard husband of Ruth Schwartzentruber Umble of Leola, Allen R. Umble of Albania, Sandra J. wife of Joseph Lusby with whom Susanna resided, 11 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren, 3 siblings: Stephen M. Kurtz husband of Mabel Kurtz Kurtz of New Holland, Linda B. Bush of Elverson, Martha M. Stoltzfus of Townville, PA. She was preceded in death by a stillborn son, James Robert Umble twin of J. Richard, 4 siblings: Omar A. Kurtz, Anna Lois Umble, Ida C. Glick and Fannie Yoder.

Funeral service will take place from Maple Grove Mennonite Church, 549 Swan Road, Atglen, PA on Monday, October 27th, at 11 a.m. with her son, Pastor J. Richard Umble, officiating. There will be a viewing at the church on Sunday afternoon from 3 to 5 p.m. and again on Monday from 10 a.m. until time of service. Interment will be in the adjoining church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Bridge of Hope Lancaster & Chester Counties, 1516 Olive Street, Coatesville, PA 19320.
