Cornelia is my 2nd cousin 1x removed.

At age 21, she was known as Mother Mary Adrian with the Sisters of Jesus and Mary. She died at age 85.

Sister Mary Adrian Etzel R.J.M., 85, of the Religious of Jesus and Mary, 1081 Mineral Spring Ave., died Tuesday at the cenacle.

Born in Brooklyn, N.Y., a daughter of the late George F. and Mary M. (Adrian) Etzel, she was christened Cornelia A. Etzel, and lived in North Providence for a year.

Sister Etzel taught art in Highland Mills, N.Y., and in Hyattsville, Md., and had studios in both states. She also was a Horticulturist.

She entered the order in 1924, was professed two years later, and took her perpetual vows in 1931, all in Highland Mills.

Sister Etzel leaves a sister, Marie Cahill of Mendham, N.J., and two brothers, George Etzel in Florida and Paul Etzel of Manhasset, N.Y.

A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Church of the Presentation of the Blessed Virgin Mary, Mineral Spring Avenue. Burial will be in St. Jean Baptiste Cemetery, Bellingham.
