Joan L Rogers entered into eternal life on Saturday, October 25th at home surrounded by her children. It was a beautiful sunny fall morning, a perfect day for Joan to finish her journey to heaven's gate.
Joan was born in Oshkosh, Wisconsin on May 10th 1939, the daughter of George G and Goldie V. (Kniess) Daniels.
Joan married Vernon R Rogers August 22, 1987 at the Paine Art Center and her life
adventures began, filled with years of gardening, community service and world traveling.
Many seniors in the Oshkosh area were able to share Joan's passion of travel, theater and shopping as she took them on many trips during her employment as the Coordinator of Valley Prestige.
As a Master Gardener, Joan shared her knowledge and passion for gardening through her docent work at the Paine. Her love of nature was evident in her own beautiful gardens which she shared with others through garden walks. She was member of the Oshkosh Garden Club.
Joan was an active member of the community. She served as a board member for the
Commission of Aging, actively participated with Women in Management, and was a long time member and served on the church council at Calvary Lutheran Church. Joan also enjoyed the many friends she made as a member and officer of the Fireside Antique Club and the Olink Investment Club.
She is survived by her husband Vernon and their 8 children, 13 grandchildren, 4 great
grandchildren, and her sister-in-law Ollie Wilde.
Her children: Cheryl (John) Drexler, Lori Hill, Steven (Cindy) Augsburger, and Roxane
(Mitch) Hencke. Grandchildren: Michael Bloedow, Brandon Nelson, Kayla (Matt) Palm,
Jordan, Teagan and Sam Augsburger, Kellen, Maggie and Erin Clifford, Jacob (Mary)
Hencke and Rachael Hencke. Great grandchildren: Daniel, Lucas, Hayven and Landon.
Vernon's children: Kathy (Justin) Berens and daughter Alexia, Mitzi Rogers, Andrew
(Jenny) Rogers and son Maxwell, Rebecca (Greg) Rogers.
She is preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, George and Robert Daniels.
Our love for you and our connection with you, Mom transcends this earthly life. We feel your presence with us and our love for you lives on, now and always. We recognize and hold close our knowing that you will continue to guide us and love us throughout our lives, until we are reunited in spirit.
A funeral service for Joan will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 30, 2014 at Calvary Lutheran Church (2580 W 9th. Ave.) with Rev. Tim Routh and Rev. Bob Rosenberg officiating. Visitation will be held at church from 9:00 a.m. until the time of service.
After the service the family wishes to have a private entombment at Riverside Cemetery.
