June 6, 1944 - October 23, 2014
Tonia Lea Bouse Nielson, age 70, passed away peacefully, in her sleep at home, on October 23, 2014.
She was born June 6, 1944 in Grand Junction, Colorado, to Richard and Violet Jones Bouse. Tonia graduated from Palisade High School in 1962.
On May 6, 1991, she married Arvid Nielson, Jr. in Helper, Utah. He passed away on July 7, 2011.
Tonia retired from Smith's Food and Drug where she was a cake decorator. She enjoyed the world when she and Arv traveled to Australia, Ireland, Mazatlan and the Amazon. She enjoyed going to yard sales and the farmer market with Virginia. She also enjoyed bowling, cooking and baking plates of goodies for friends and family at Christmas.
Nothing was more important to Tonia than her family. She was "Mom" and "Grandma" to everyone. She took special care to make time for each one of her friends. She spent endless hours sitting on the bleachers watching her sons play sports, and later, watching her granddaughters play.
Tonia leaves behind a family who will greatly miss her.
She is survived by her children: Darryl and Shelley Smith, of Palisade, CO; Michelle and Robert Saez, of Kenilworth, UT; Tracy and Jennifer West, of Spring Glen, UT; eight grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren, with one more great-granddaughter on the way; her sister, Dorothy; brothers, Robert and Clarence, and her best friend, Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Funeral services will be Thursday, October 30, 2014, 11:00 a.m. at Mitchell Funeral Home. Family will receive friends at Mitchell's Wednesday evening from 6 - 8:00 p.m. and Thursday one hour prior to service. Interment to be at Mt. View Cemetery in Helper.
Arrangements entrusted to Mitchell Funeral Home of Price.
