"Barclay Volk -
Army S. Sgt. Barclay Leonard Volk, 20, of 3238 Stone Ave., was killed Friday in Vietnam during an encounter with the enemy.
He was born Dec. 3, 1949, in Norfolk, Neb., a son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis L. Volk. The family lived in Rapid City, S. D., before moving to Billings in 1958.
He was graduated from Billings West High School in 1968 and was awarded the John Phillip Sousa award as outstanding musician at the school.
He enlisted in the United States Army in October 1968 and was sent to Vietnam in September 1969. He was a squad leader with Company C, 2nd Battalion, 12th Infantry of the 25th Infantry Division.
Survivors include the parents, of 3238 Stone Ave.; a sister, Ragan Elizabeth Volk, of the family home; a brother, Bradley W. Volk, of Rapid City, S. D., and the maternal grandfather and maternal step-mother, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Zimmer, of Pierce, Neb.
Dahl-Brown Home is in charge of arrangement."

Funeral services for S. Sgt. Barclay Leonard Volk, 20, son of Mr. and Mrs. Willis L. Volk, of 3238 Stone St., were held Friday morning at Dahl-Brown Funeral Home.
Capt. Clyde Northrup, an Army chaplain, officiated. Burial was in Custer Battlefield National Cemetery with military rites.
Pallbearers were Sgt. Thomas Martin, Spec. 2 Richard D. Prado, Sgt. Gerald A. Blanquist, Spec. 4 Hiram Johnson, Pfc. Arthur Rangel and Spec. 4 Frank Mayewski.
S. Sgt. Volk was killed in action April 17 in Vietnam.
Survivors include the parents, one brother, one sister, the maternal grandfather and the maternal step-grandmother."
