Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sat., April 1, for Grace Marie Arends, 89, Lake Preston, who died March 28, 2006, at the Kingsbury Memorial Manor there. The Rev. Bill Hoffman will officiate in Oldham Baptist Church at Oldham, and burial will be in the Oldham City Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 5-7 p.m. Friday in the Johnson-Henry Funeral Chapel at Lake Preston, and before services in the church on Saturday.

Grace Meinerts was born on May 7, 1916, at Emery to Jurgen and Janettie (Lubbers) Meinerts. She married Albert Arends on Jan. 18, 1939, at George, Iowa. They later moved to the Oldham area to farm. In 1967, they moved to Missoula, Mont., where he was employed in a lumber mill and she worked at the Community Hospital. Her husband died on Feb. 6, 1975. She remained in Montana until 1991, when she moved to Lake Preston.

Survivors include five children, Cheryl Deknikker and Beverly Jensen, both of Lake Preston; David and Arlen Arends both of Missoula, Mont., and Milan Johnson of Santa Ana, Calif.; 12 grandchildren; and 26 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, five sisters and a grandson.
