*Elizabeth Renner Messerle, 85 years, was found dead this morning at her home, 321 East Second Street, after a lingering illness. She had been confined to her bed for the past two and one-half-years. Mrs. Messerle was born October 23, 1852 in Monroetown and lived in Monroe most of her life. She was the daughter of Michael and Margaret Renner. On June 9, 1887, she married William Messerle, who preceded her in death November 27, 1927 sic (1929) She leaves a step-son, Edward Messerle, and a large number of nieces and nephews in Monroe and Detroit. She was an aunt of the late George Renner. Funeral services will be held at the Maurice and Capaul funeral home Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock. The Rev. Henry Zapf will officiate and interment will be in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery. Mrs. Messerle was a member of the Zion Lutheran Ladies Aid Society. (MEN, Mar. 4, 1937)
