Anna M. was the eighth of fourteen children (eleven who survived... four daughters & seven sons; the first three daughters - Katie, Gertrude & Mary - died in the Black Diphtheria Epidemic) born to Mathias Simon & Anna (Weber) Michels.

On 4 November 1904, Anna M. first married Peter Heinen in Belgrade, MN; he was age 27 she was 19. Peter was the son of John Peter & Barbara (Schindler) Heinen.

After Peter died in 1933, Anna's second marriage was to John Hopfer on 28 Oct 1935 at Saint Margaret Catholic Church in Belgrade, MN; she was age 50, he was 49. It was John's second marriage also; his first wife, Agnes T. died in 1934.

The couple farmed together in Lake George (Township) until 1942, when they moved to Sauk Centre, MN.

A hard-working homemaker who was twice a farmer's wife & mother of seven; Anna's special hobby/talent -- showcased later in life, was assembling presentations of artificial flowers. Anna died at age 66.
