Elvin D. Severtson, 82 of Devils Lake formerly of Southam, ND passed away on Thursday, November 6, 2014 at Mercy Hospital, Devils Lake. Funeral Services will be held Monday, November 10, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the United Lutheran Church, Brocket, ND with burial in the Hoff Cemetery, rural Brocket.

Visitation at the Gilbertson Funeral Home, Devils Lake on Sunday from 3:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m. with a Prayer Service and Time of Remembrance at 4:00 p.m. Visitation on Monday will be at the church one hour prior to the funeral service.

Elvin Dale, was born on May 14, 1932 at Brocket, ND to Edward and Dagny (Sundeen) Severtson. He was raised in the Brocket and Southam area and baptized and confirmed in the Lutheran faith.

As an adult he lived and worked in California for a number of years. He then returned to live with Leo and Nelda Langton on the farm near Southam and worked with them on the farm and at the implement dealership. He moved into the Odd Fellows Basic Care Home in Devils Lake in 2005 where he resided until his death on November 6, 2014.

Elvin was a kind and gentle soul who loved his extended family and treasured family gatherings. He was an avid sports fan who enjoyed almost any game that happened to be on the television or radio. He was a devoted Minnesota Twins fan.

Elvin is survived by his brothers Sheldon Severtson, Devils Lake and Lynn (Barb) Severtson, West Fargo; sisters Nelda Langton, Devils Lake, Edelle Bond, Fargo, Sonja Meissner, Circle, MT and Dorine Pershke, Fargo; nieces and nephews Sheila (Fred) Matsubara and Keith Severtson, Laurie (John) Murack and Carrie (Jeff) Burgess, Steven (Sally) Langton, Scott (Dessarie) Langton, Brian Langton, Merle Langton, Stacy (Tom) Saurey and John Cummings, Jenelle (Shawn) Hodny, Cameron (Karly) Meissner, Abby (Noah) Johnson and Christine (Tanner) Jorissen; many great nieces and great nephews. Elvin was preceded in death by his parents; brothers-in-law Leo Langton, Mark Bond and Wes Meissner; sister-in-law Judy Severtson; niece Lanelle Cummings; nephew Trent Langton.
