Born Johannes Peter Buhlmann in Bern, Switzerland to Peter Buhlmann and Anna Luginbuhl.

He married Anna Haldimann and together, they later immigrated from Bern, Switzerland in March 1851 with their children. According to Jacob Buhlman's obituary, Jacob was the last surviving child of Anna and Johann (John)'s eleven children.

Johannes operated a farm in Near Iowa Falls, Iowa by 1860 - but also established roots in Saux City and later Waunakee, Wisconsin. He died in Madison, Wisconsin in 1886.

His wife Anna, daughter (Elizabeth Buhlman Miller) and her family share inscriptions on the same grave marker.

Gravesite Details

Headstone markings are faint but appear to predate the Miller family inscriptions on the adjacent side.

Elizabeth Miller was the daughter of Anna and Johann Buhlman. Two other sisters are buried nearby.
