Obituary. John Christopher Haag was born in Klein Butewher, Wurtemburg, Germany, November 13, 1817. As soon as he arrived at the proper age he was compelled to serve six years in the German army. When his term of service expired he was united in marriage to Miss Rocina Friehoffer, who with eight children, five boys and three girls, still survive ... in the year 1846 left the fatherland, came to America and settled in Washington county, Wisconsin. In the year, 1859, while Kansas was yet a territory .... settled in Liberty township, four miles north of Holton where he raised a family .... In the old county Mr. and Mrs. Haag were Lutherans. After coming to Kansas they united with the Evangelical Association ......procession to the cemetery.
