James Ray Critchley, formerly of Danese and Glendale, Ariz, ascended to heaven on Tuesday, Feb. 22, 2011, at the Thomas Hood Veterans Center, Wilmore, Ky, following an extended illness. Born March 19, 1935, in Layland, he was the son of the late Perry Ray and Dorothy Lucille Parker Critchley. In addition to his parents, Jimmy was preceded in their rebirth in Christ by his first wife, Mary Christine Le Masters Critchley; his second wife, Suzanne Ginette Chevalier Critchley; and two brothers, John Patrick and Leonard C. Critchley. Jimmy was a graduate of Nuttall High School, Lookout, where he was a member of the football team. Jimmy greatly enjoyed hunting and fishing, spending time with his horses and dogs, and was a gifted leather craftsman. Jimmy retired as a master sergeant from the U.S. Air Force after 20 years of service to his country. He also had worked at Babcock State Park and was retired from a second career as a building inspector for the city of Glendale, Ariz. Survivors left to cherish his memory include his two sons and their wives, James Robert and Virginia Norine Critchley of Versailles, Ky, and Audie Lee and Gladys Critchley of Elkins; three brothers and their wives, Dennis and Shirley Critchley of Danese, Julias and Rosy Critchley of Dalzell, S.C, and Bill Critchley of Danese; four sisters and their husbands, Loretta Jean and George Campbell of Danese, Linda Barnes of Shepherdsville, Ky, Dorothy and Fred Foster of Danese and Reva and George Martin, Jr. of Danese; three grandsons, Matthew Mark and Shannon Peter Critchley of Kentucky and Patrick Cillien of Germany; two granddaughters, Christine and Lacy Critchley of West Virginia; six great-grandchildren, Lora Paige and Connor Patrick Critchley of Kentucky, and Cody, Caitlyn, Caleb and Branden Cockran of Kentucky; and special friends and hunting buddies, Don and Betty Jacks of Arizona. Friends may gather with the family beginning at noon Saturday, Feb. 26, at Wallace & Wallace Funeral Home, 213 Main St, Rainelle, followed by services at 2 p.m. with Pastor Jessie Butch Parker officiating. Interment will follow in the Lewis-Critchley family cemetery, Danese. All are welcome to fellowship and partake in God's bountiful blessings at the Danese Community Center, immediately following the burial services. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Alzheimer's Association, P.O.
