Bossier City, LA - Lonnie Yvonne Shaffer Teutsch, 86, passed away November 21, 2014 in Bossier City, LA after a lengthy illness. Visitation will be held Monday, November 24th at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Bossier City, LA and services will be held at 11:30 am Tuesday, November 25th at the funeral home. Interment will be at Hill Crest Cemetery in Haughton, LA. Officiating will be the Reverend Kris Chenier of Trinity Heights Baptist Church where she was a longtime member and Buck Furlow, Chaplin of Harmony Life Hospice.

Born in Athens, LA on March 9, 1928 to George Henry and Dorothy Bridges Shaffer, Yvonne resided in the Shreveport-Bossier area since 1945 and worked for the Caddo Parish School System in the Special Education Department from 1967 until her retirement in 1992. Throughout her life, Yvonne strove to portray the Proverbs 31 woman, providing her family not just with physical necessities but also giving them spiritual nourishment, displaying her love of God for them and for others. Always wanting to serve others, Yvonne touched everyone she knew with her humility and servant's heart.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband of 52 years, John Marvin Teutsch, infant brother John Henry Shaffer and brother James Travis Shaffer. She is survived by her two sons, John Russell Teutsch and his wife Karen of Bossier City, LA and Bruce Marvin Teutsch and his wife Mary of Bossier City, LA; grandchildren, Dr. John Matthew Teutsch and wife Melissa of Lafayette, LA, Thomas Jonathan Teutsch of Frierson, LA and Tiersten Lynn Smith and husband Brandon of Bossier City, LA; great grandchildren, Juliette Teutsch, Avery Teutsch, Corbin Teutsch and John Hayden Teutsch; sisters Dottie Cathey and husband Al of Athens, LA and Donia Groff of Portland, Or and many nieces and nephews.

Serving as pallbearers will be Dr. John Matthew Teutsch, Thomas Jonathan Teutsch, Brandon Smith, Jim Adams, Richard Gates and Byrum Carpenter.

A special thanks to Willis Knighton Health Systems, Promise Hosptial, Pilgrim Manor, and especially the Harmony Life Hospice Group, including Robin, Brenda, Susan, and Buck, for their care and compassion in the last year. Her Trinity Heights Sunday School Class. Also for Diane Jackson who was always there to help and comfort.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Heights Baptist Church, Shreveport, LA.

During this time, let us "Honor her for all that her hands have done, and let her works bring her praise at the city gate." (Proverbs 31:31)
