Frank J. Nies, 69, of 5501 Midmoor rd., died Saturday at Bradenton, Fla., while vacationing.
A Madison resident for 22 years, Mr. Nies was a retired foreman for Doyon Lumber Co., where he worked until 1961. In 1921 he married Nancy Lewis. He was a World War I Army veteran and a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church and its Holy Name Society. He also was a member of the Veterans of Foreign Wars and the Teamsters Union.
The funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Wednesday in Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church here. The Rev. Jerome Mersberger will officiate Burial will be in Resurrection cemetery.
Friends may call at the Gunderson funeral home, 5203 Monona dr., after 3:30 p.m. Tuesday. The rosary will be recited there at 8 p.m. Tuesday. Marion Cranefield VFW Post will conduct military rites at the grave.
Survivors include his wife; a son, Glen, Atlanta, Ga.; a daughter, Mrs. Joseph Rebholz, 2402 Upham st.; a brother, Joseph, Mineral Point, and nine grandchildren."
