Eleanor Sullivan

Eleanor Marie Sullivan, 80, of Boca Raton went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2014.

Ellie was born on March 2, 1934 in Bennington, Nebraska, and was the daughter of Otto and Marie Petersen Schmidt. She moved to south Florida in 1961, and retired from the Boca Raton Police Department in 2000.

She is survived by her daughters, Terrie and Sheila, her son Michael, and her grandchildren Connor, Katie, and Cheryling. Also surviving are her two brothers Laverne (Shirley) Schmidt and Melvin (Sally) Schmidt of Arlington, Nebraska.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Ellie was dearly loved, and her smile, warmth, and caring nature will be missed by many. A celebration of her life will be held Friday, December 5, 2014 from 4:00 pm to 7:00 pm with the service beginning at 6:00 pm at Glick Family Funeral Home, 3600 N. Federal Hwy., Boca. Family and friends are invited to attend. A homecoming is also planned for the Spring of 2015 in Fremont, Nebraska.

A graveside service for Eleanor (Schmidt) Sullivan will be held on Friday, June 19, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at Memorial Cemetery in Fremont, Nebraska.

Eleanor Marie Sullivan, 80, of Arlington and Boca Raton, Florida, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, November 26, 2014, in Boca Raton. She was born on March 2, 1934, in Bennington, Nebraska, and was the daughter of Otto and Marie (Petersen) Schmidt. She was a graduate of Fremont High School.

"Ellie" moved with her family to south Florida in 1961 and retired from the Boca Raton Police Department in 2000. She hosted many seaside picnics, and enjoyed long walks on the beach. She was a devoted daughter, mother, grandmother, companion, aunt, and friend.

She is survived by her daughters, Terrie and Sheila; her son Michael; and her grandchildren Connor, Katie and Cheryling. Also surviving are her two brothers Laverne (Shirley) Schmidt and Melvin (Sally) Schmidt of Arlington, Nebraska, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved cockatiel, Judy.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her companion of 29 years, Donald Brown.

Ellie possessed an optimistic, warm, and caring nature. She was beautiful, energetic, generous, good-hearted, creative, and quick to smile, and will be deeply missed by many.
