Thomas Eggebrecht, age 57, of South Elgin, IL and formerly of Hammond, IN, passed away on Friday, June 6, 2014. Tom was the beloved son of Norma Mueller and the late Arthur Eggebrecht. He is survived by former wife, stepson, stepdaughter and her husband, two grandchildren, a sister and her husband, a nephew, two nieces, a brother and his wife, two nieces. Tom graduated from Thornton Fractional North High School in Calumet City, IL and attended Thornton Community College and Northern Illinois University. He worked for Old Country Buffet for 21 years and served as Regional Area Director for nine years. Tom's entire professional career was spent working in the restaurant business. Tom was a talented woodworker and stained glass artist. He loved his family very much and was a devoted grandfather. Friends are invited to meet with the family on Saturday, June 14, 2014 from 9:00 AM until time of Service at 10:00 AM at LaHAYNE FUNERAL HOME, 6955 Southeastern Ave., Hammond, IN. Interment Concordia Cemetery, Hammond. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Lutheran Church Extension Fund or to your charity of choice . (North West Indiana Times)
