Hoven - Della Krier, 95, Hoven, died Tuesday, April 18, 2006, at the Holy Infant Hospital, Hoven. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 a.m., Friday, April 21, 2006, at St. Anthony's Catholic Church, Hoven, with Father Lance Oser, celebrant. Burial will follow at St. Anthony's Catholic Church Cemetery, Hoven. Organist will be Alice Simon and St. Anthony's Catholic Church Choir will sing. Mass servers will be Chris Jacobs, Dustin Vogel, and Derek Vogel. Lectors will be Kirsten Alm and Jeanne Silsby. Eucharistic Minister will be Linda Feldmeier. Della's sons will be offertory giftbearers and Kathy Vogel, Karen Jacobs, Pam Grismer, Kristi Warner, Niki Parker and Carrie Krier will be placing the pall. There will be a wake service at the church 5 p.m. Thursday with visitation beginning at 4 p.m. Della Catherine Koehn, daughter of Pauline (Miesen) and Peter (Koehn), was born March 4, 1911, six miles south of Hoven. She attended country school one mile from home and St. Bernard's Parochial School through eighth grade. Della married Leo J. Krier on Oct. 14, 1936, at Hoven. They settled on a farm northwest of Hoven until the fall of 1969 when they moved into Hoven. Della worked for the William Rader family prior to marriage. She also worked 10 years in the dietary department at Holy Infant Hospital. Leo died Feb. 17, 1996, and Della continued living in Hoven. The last five years she had been in assisted living and long term care at Holy Infant Hospital. She was a faithful member of St. Anthony's Catholic Church, St. Anthony's Altar Society, and St. Mary's Society (Catholic Aid Society) from whom she earned a 50-year plaque. She also belonged to the Hoven Senior Center. Della enjoyed craft works, crocheting, embroidering, gardening, playing cards, praying the rosary, and entertaining family. Mrs. Krier leaves to mourn five sons that were born on their farm, Ron (Carol) of Hoven, Harlan (Gerry) of St. Louis, Mo., John (Janet) of Woodburn, Ore., David (Julie) of Bloomington, Minn., and Daniel (Lori) of Seward, Alaska; 13 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren. Family members preceding her in death include her parents, her husband, four brothers (Edward, Adolph, Peter, Jr., and an infant) and five sisters (Mary Zweber, Anna Zweber, Tena Speck, Margaret Schulte, and Oliva Beckler). Honorary bearers will be Hoven Senior Citizen members and Catholic Aid members, as well as the Holy Infant Hospital Staff. Casketbearers will be Michael Krier of Rapid City, Jeff Krier of Eugene, Ore., Nathan Krier and Jamison Krier of Minneapolis, Minn., Kenny Vogel of Onaka, and Joel Krier of Pittsburgh, Pa. Miller Funeral Home, Bowdle is in charge of arrangements.
