James "Bud" Clem Kraner, MD, PHD, age 91, went home to be with the Lord on November 23, 2014 in Chandler, Arizona. James was the beloved husband of Virginia Cole Kraner of Sun Lakes, Arizona and together have four children, Susan Ellen Kraner Trumble (Thomas) of Littleton, Colorado, Sarah Elizabeth Kraner Allen (Terry) of El Paso, Texas, Dr. James Cole Kraner of Charleston, West Virginia and Lt. Col. Timothy Andrew Kraner (Kristynn) of Las Cruces, New Mexico and two grandsons, Kenneth Paul Adams (Fawn) of Mesa, Arizona and James Thomas Kraner Trumble of Littleton, Colorado.
James was preceded in death by his parents, James Garfield Kraner and Isabel Kraner and his older sister, Mary Ellen Kraner Poff.
James, known as "Bud" by family and friends, was born and raised in Pickerington, Ohio. Bud served in World War II in the United States Army Air Corps. Bud graduated from Otterbein College (1947) and received both M.D. (1956) and Ph.D. (1957) degrees from Ohio State University.
Dr. Kraner practiced internal medicine at Lovelace Clinic in Albuquerque and served as the Director of the Non-Invasive Vascular Laboratory at St. Luke's Hospital in Phoenix. He made significant contributions to the field of vascular medicine with special focus on the use of Doppler technology for diagnosis of vascular disease.
Bud was an active member of the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church and a 32 Degree York and Scottish Rite Mason. Bud was a excellent photographer. Bud especially loved traveling with the family.
A memorial service was held at the Sun Lakes United Methodist Church in Sun Lakes, Arizona on Friday, November 28, 2014. Interment will be at the Violet Cemetery in Pickerington, Ohio in the spring of 2015. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial gifts made in the name of Dr. James Kraner and sent to the Lakeside Chautauqua Foundation, 236 Walnut Avenue, Lakeside, Ohio 43440.
