Helen Rogers Holloway, of Venice, FL, died on July 6, 2012.
Born in Boston MA, she was the daughter of William Alexander Rogers and Mary Francis Watson, and sister of William A Rogers, Jr., and Forbes W Rogers. While at Mount Holyoke College, she met and married Roland Frank Beers, Jr. She later attended University of Rochester and graduated from Southern Methodist University,1948.
Helen lived in Baltimore MD (1958-1972), Elkhart IN (1973-1985), Williamsburg VA (1986-2006), and Venice FL. She was an excellent horsewoman and an avid birder. A supporter of the arts, she volunteered at the Baltimore Museum of Art and the Midwest Museum of American Art, Elkhart IN and the Muscarelle Museum of Art at the College of William and Mary. She believed in women's rights and volunteered at Planned Parenthood. Helen loved her children, her friends, and her dogs.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers, and her first husband, Roland Beers. Helen is survived by four children, James Wheelock Beers (Carol), Williamsburg VA, William Rogers Beers (Joann), Lodi WI, Helen Elizabeth Beers Organt, Venice FL, and John Roland Beers (Nermin), Sarasota FL, seven grandchildren, and fourteen great grandchildren. She is survived by her husband, Floyd Holloway, Jr., Venice FL, married 1999, and two step-sons, Charles Holloway (Ann) and Frank Holloway. A service is planned for later this summer.
