OAKLAND, Calif. - Jeanne Carol LaMotte of Oakland died December 14, 2014. She will be greatly missed by family and friends. The daughter of James Estel and Genevieve Lucille (Tucker) Alexander she was born in Fort Dodge, Iowa March 18, 1927. She graduated from Moorland High School near Fort Dodge in 1945. Carol worked in retail in Fort Dodge following graduation. She met and married Harry LaMotte son of Robert and Alice LaMotte of Oakland, California June 29, 1958. Following a short residence in Fort Lauderdale, Florida Harry and Carol returned to Oakland where Harry was employed by the US Postal Department. They settled in to raise their family with participation in Fruitvale Presbyterian Church and the Oakland Public Schools. Harry died August 24, 1970 leaving Carol to raise their daughter and son. As the children grew and became more independent Carol received her Associates Degree from Merritt College and worked for many years in the offices of Brevet and Associates in the insurance industry. A devoted member of her church, Carol served many years in leadership roles, sang in the choir and participated in the church's food distribution program.
She is survived by daughter and son-in-law Jeanne Marie and Darryl Pinkler of Oakland; son and daughter-in-law John and Laura LaMotte and granddaughter Rebecca LaMotte of Lafayette ; sister and brother-in-law Corinne and Roger Fox of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; brother Jim Alexander of Austin, Minnesota; brother David Alexander of Lakeway, Texas; and sister and brother-in-law Cynthia and Jim Dunlap of Lino Lakes, Minnesota; and several nieces and nephews.
Family and friends are invited to attend memorial services to be held at 11:00 am Friday January 2, 2015 at College Avenue Presbyterian Church, 5951 College Avenue, Oakland, CA 94618 (510-658-3665).
