Harold Irwin Lussman was born July 3, 1926, in Storm Lake, Iowa, the son of Edward and Anna (Mohr) Lussman.

Harold was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Storm Lake, Iowa

Harold attended school in Sulphur Springs, graduating in 1944.

Harold met Esther Glienke at a Lutheran Walther League Halloween Party on the farmstead that eventually became their home. On June 6, 1948, Harold and Esther were united in marriage. Together they were blessed with six children. After Esther’s passing, he was blessed to marry Esther Armstrong at Zion Lutheran Church in rural Storm Lake. He was a devoted husband to both wives.

Harold was an active member in the community, serving as a charter member for the Buena Vista Rifle and Pistol Club, the Farm Bureau, the Zion Parochial School Board. He was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church Men’s Club and dart ball team member.

Harold enjoyed fishing, hunting, and antique tractors. He was an aviation enthusiast. Harold also loved history, and was an avid reader. Most of all, Harold loved spending time with his family and friends. He will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.

Those left to cherish his memory include his children: Dr. Myra Heck Lussman (Ray Forman) of Clive, Iowa; Bonnie (Randy) Quillen of Grand Lake, Colorado; Edward (Linda) Lussman of Lakeville, Minnesota; Paul (Rhonda Harrington) Lussman of Storm Lake, Iowa; Daniel John Lussman of Fonda, Iowa; Joyce Nielsen of Storm Lake, Iowa; grandchildren: Kelby (Ruby) Heck; Kirk Heck; Casey Quillen (Kris Middledorf); Jared (Gia) Quillen; Kelly (fiancé, Mike) Munt; Clint (Jessica) Roberts; Nicole (Kale) Glover; Zachary (Sarah) Lussman; Ashley Lussman; Tammy Nielsen; John Nielsen; great-grandchildren: Georgia, Kail, Lane, and Gage Heck; Dillon and Avery Middledorf; Reagan and James Quillen; Killian Munt; Ethan, Evan, Eli, and Ella Roberts; Kase and Kage Glover; Kooper Anderson; brothers, Willis (Lorna) Lussman and Darwin Lussman; sister, Arta (Dr. John) Harman; step-children: Dale (Sandy) Armstrong; Glenn (Carolyn) Armstrong; Gary (Gail) Armstrong; step-grandchildren: Brandon, Justin, Tyler, Randi, Kerri, Rachel, Jacob, Ryan Armstrong; many nieces and nephews; and numerous lifelong friends.

Harold was preceded in death by his parents; two wives; infant son; and sister-in-law, Joanne H. Lussman.
