James Herman Ziemer, 84, passed away at Bay Area Medical Center, on January 10, 2015 in Marinette, Wis. Jim was born on April 25, 1930 in Medford, Wis., to Julia (Dahlstrom) and Elmer Ziemer.

After high school, Jim enlisted in the United States Army and served as a communications officer in the Korean Conflict.

After returning from Korea, he married Carole J. Mikulsky on May 4, 1957, in Green Bay, WI.

The Ziemers moved to Marinette in 1961, where Jim shared his talents as owner and photographer at James Studio on Main Street. When the studio closed in 1978, Jim worked at various other businesses, including the Globe House Furnishings and the Salvation Army Store.
Jim's friendly demeanor wasn't suited for retirement and Jim started what proved to be his favorite job, as one of the first Walmart greeters at the then newly opened Marinette Walmart in 1998.

Jim was the proud father of five children: Margie (Tim) Fermanich of Menominee, Mich., Jaime (Kevin) Klein of Murrayville, Ill., Heidi (Keith) Morrison of Saratoga, Calif., Christopher (Sherri) Ziemer of Oshkosh, Wis., and Lizabeth (Robert) Ruehle of Muskego, Wis.
12 grandchildren and three, soon-to-be five, great-grandchildren.

An avid fisherman, Jim cherished every opportunity he had to spend the day on a lake. He also loved the Green Bay Packers and could always be found in front of the TV on Packer football Sunday. Jim was a long time member of St. Anthony's Parish and the consolidated Holy Family Parish.

Jim is survived by his wife Carole;
children: Margie (Tim) Fermanich of Menominee, Mich., Jaime (Kevin) Klein of Murrayville, Ill., Heidi (Keith) Morrison of Saratoga, Calif., Christopher (Sherri) Ziemer of Oshkosh, Wis., and Lizabeth (Robert) Ruehle of Muskego, Wis.
and his brother Gary (Celia) Ziemer of Palmyra, Va.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents and a sister Lucille S. Wesson.

Jim's life will be celebrated on Thursday, January 15, with a visitation at Hanson-Onion-Martell Funeral Home in Marinette from Noon until 3 p.m.
A funeral mass will be held after the visitation at 3:30 p.m. at Holy Family-Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church. A military salute honoring Jim's service to our country will follow the mass.
