The son of Heinrich and Helene (Bruns) Diecks and widower of Mary J. Koch, John resided on Southwestern Parkway and was a retired salesman for the H. W. Reese Woolen Company. He died at his home after suffering a cerebral hemorrhage, and following services at Shoppenhorst's Chapel, was interred at Cave Hill on 5 October 1949.
