Joan graduated from Hartford City High School in 1948 and from Methodist Hospital School of Nursing in 1950. She married Lowell Lee Schultz on September 3, 1950 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Hartford City. He precedes her in death on July 29, 2003.
Joan was a homemaker and Registered Nurse. She was a member of the Hartford City Wesleyan Church and an avid reader and loved bird watching and flowers.
She will be sadly missed by her sons, Michael D. (wife-Marla) Schultz of Mooresville, IN, Patrick K. (wife-Rhonda) Schultz of Columbus, OH; daughters, Susan R. (husband-Howard) Wolfgang of Hartford City, Nancy Jane (husband-Vance) Absher of Bowling Green, KY; eight grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; brother, Jack (wife-Ruth) Bickel of Muncie; and several nieces and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents; her husband; and sons, Mark Lowell Schultz and Timothy Lee Schultz.
Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Saturday at Keplinger Funeral Home, 509 North High Street, Hartford City, with Rev. Tom Parsons officiating. Burial will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Muncie. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday and 9 to 10 a.m. Saturday at Keplinger Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to Hartford City Wesleyan Church, 1301 S. Walnut St., Hartford City, IN 47348.
